We started well in this match and the play was quite even for most of the first half but we fell 1-0 behind about half way through it. But we were very much in the game without about 5 minutes to go to half time until we conceded three cheap goals in rapid succession before the break after some poor communication and calamitous defending. This was a real shame as it effectively ended the match as a contest by half time.
After a fairly stern half time team talk we came out and performed much better in the second half to the credit of the kids and which wasn’t easy given the morale-sapping end to the first half.
It looked like we would hold them to 1-0 in the second half until they scored with literally the last kick of the game.
We were undoubtedly found wanting for effort in the first half but the kids showed admirable character and no small amount of pride to bounce back in the second half so well down to them for that. And the final score certainly didn’t represent the balance of play or share of possession.
And finally, a big thanks to our own Jim Duggan who came out at short notice today to referee three of our matches including this one and who had to battle through severe leg cramp to do so📷 - Kerry Dunne
