13C1 won 4-0 against Joey’s Saturday 15th April.

The glorious weather today was matched by some equally glorious football. We took the game to the opposition from the off and dominated possession in the early stages. We had a few close chances early on but only managed to open the scoring when Jacob came in off the right wing and unleashed a blistering shot which beat the keeper all ends up but came off the underside of the crossbar and fell to “deadly-from-a-yard” Freddie who was instinctively in the right place to tap it in. Shortly after that Giovanni came on for Jacob and wasn’t on the pitch for more than 20 seconds when his left foot shot beat the keeper to put us 2-0 up. Hats off to Aaron for the impact substitution!

Joey’s did have a few attacks but Leo and Charlie were stalwart in the centre of defence and well positioned to clear it every time danger threatened.

It stayed at 2-0 until half time. Again we dominated possession in the second half and had plenty more chances. Eddie, Freddie and Juan were lively up front and Juan in particular was unlucky not to get on to the scoresheet today. Charlie moved up to centre mid for the second half and a few minutes into it his well-struck shot from just inside the box deflected off the back of one of their defenders to leave their keeper wrong-footed and flew into the back of the net. 3-0.

We continued to press after that with some good moves down the left in particular by Lucas P at left mid. But our fourth came from the other side when Giovanni dribbled down the right wing and shot from a relatively tight angle outside the box and his looping shot sailed inexorably over their flailing keeper into the top corner to put the result beyond any doubt.

There was some great linked-up play out there today and we really showed what we are capable of in possession. Well done to everyone involved today for a really great performance and of course to Aaron for masterminding it all. Coach Kerry
